Serenity Leadership

In 2021, Laura Beltran, psychologist, realized there was a vast need in the community to treat Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), due to the lack of recognition and increase in prevalence.

Serenity Counseling’s hope is to help every person regain a sense of life purpose. Our vision is to help across these three areas:

Create Emotional Safety. Our goal is to assist trauma survivors in becoming more aware of their emotional states and increase their ability to tolerate emotional distress. This process promotes emotional safety, security, and willingness to reveal oneself without fear of judgement or criticism from themselves or others. Increasing their window of tolerance will foster opportunities to develop new skills, build resilience, as well as the confidence to successfully overcome past and future adverse life events.

Self-Fulfillment. Our intention is to support trauma survivors in developing a deeper awareness and understanding of themselves. Nurturing a relationship with the self aids in identifying their needs, strengths, and limitations. Being honest with oneself will pave the path for reaching one’s talents, realizing one’s dreams, being true to oneself, achieving inner peace, and reaching one’s full potential. We support each person in becoming everything they are capable of becoming.

Emotional Connection. Our mission is to create a safe and secure environment from which each trauma survivor can learn to experience healthy levels of emotional vulnerability and emotional intimacy. We aim to promote warmth and comfort thus allowing each person to be seen, heard, and understood without judgment. This in turn allows for strong bonds to emerge, healthy attachments to be formed, and equal communication and trust to be established with others.

“PTSD is not about what is wrong with someone. PTSD is about what happened to someone.”
